From temporary peace to fleeting turmoil, uncover the circumstances layered within these tales of growth and transformation. Amidst the dance of passing time, you are invited to contemplate the transitory nature of life and the powerful choices that influence your journeys.
Any form of creative writing such as, but not limited to, poetry, short stories, scripts, and other literary forms. The pieces must fit or relate to the theme of the folio. This year’s theme, Shades of Gray: “Solstice” encapsulates stories forged within any turning point in life—whether they evoke the serenity before turbulent moments or capture the vitality of human experience.
Entries submitted may only be in English or Filipino. However, entries published before, either printed or digitally, will not be accepted.
For submissions, place your pieces in Google Docs using your Benilde mail. Make sure to adjust its sharing settings to “Anyone in this group with this link can edit.” The word limit is 700 words, though longer submissions can be accepted at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
Copy the share link and paste it in its designated question in the submissions form. Make sure to fill up the other required details before submitting. The link to the submissions form will be posted on our social media accounts on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram (@thebenildean).
You can submit as many as you want. However, make sure to carefully follow the instructions for each submission. Submit each piece individually in the form.
You can submit entries until November 15, 2024.

Shades of Gray will only accept entries from currently enrolled (1st term, A.Y. 2024-2025), bonafide students of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. This means if you are currently on LOA this 2nd term, you may NOT submit.
The only criteria for the selection process are the quality of your work and how well it incorporates the theme of Shades of Gray: Solstice. Submission screening is done by the Literary Editor, Karilyon Editor, Associate Editor for Print, and the Editor in Chief of the Benildean Press Corps.
